BENIN— Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State has challenged Governor Adams Oshiomhole to disclose the PDP leaders who offered him N2.5 billion after the 2007 election in exchange for his mandate.
The governor had, in an interview with Vanguard, alleged that he was offered the said sum for him to abandon his election mandate but that he rejected the offer due to his burning desire to touch the lives of the people of the state.
However, addressing newsmen weekend in Benin City, state chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, who faulted the achievements read by Governor Oshiomhole during the three years anniversary celebration of his administration, said: “The governor is lying. If he is saying the truth, let him name those who tried to bribe him with that amount.
“Why did he not report the matter to the police if that is true? Oshiomhole that we know is somebody that likes playing to the gallery just like the way he embarrassed Loye publicly.
“Why will it take him three years to say that they offered him money to forget his mandate? We challenge him to mention names?”
