The Games and Sports secretary of the Apapa Club, Dozie Udeze has stated that the first edition of the clubs’ Games bank-rolled by Oando will revive the club’s sporting activity.
Mr Udeze made this declaration at the club’s opening ceremony last Saturday. He said the dwindling level of sports in the club needs revamping which the Games seek to redress.
He also said that his aim as the Games and Sports secretary is to finish tops on the medals table at the quadrangular Games which started yesterday at the Lagos Country Club in Ikeja.
“The Games have already made most of the sections to start scouting around for better players in their sections. This is the immediate effect of this Games while the other is the quadrangular Games.
“Before now, some of the sections had dwindled because of lack of competition but I hope that at the end of the Games, their will been massive revival.
“Amongst the clubs in Lagos state, we are the only one still holding Games at a very high premium. We organise sporting events every month to keep ourselves fit. That is why our annual budget is about N60m.
“My major interest and task is for the club to come out tops in the quadrangular Games. If we can achieve this feat, I would feel a little satisfied as the Games and Sport secretary,” Mr Udeze said.
