Oron Union, OU, has raised an alarm over alleged marginali-sation of Oron nation in Akwa Ibom State, in the appointments into Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
President of the group, Chief Asuquo Inuikim, at a briefing in Lagos, said from the time of Oil Mineral Producing Area Commi-ssion, OMPADEC, to the current NDDC, Oro nation has not had a single representation.
He said: “It is very bad that up till this moment not a single Oron man or wo-man is represented in the board of the commission.”
He appealed to the appropriate authorities to address the marginalisation.
Inuikim also announced the commissioning of Oron Community House and annual cultural festival scheduled for December 9 and 10.
He said the multipurpose edifice was built through efforts of Oron community and people of goodwill, including contributions from Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State.
