The governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Rahman Mimiko, has won the governor of the year award at an international award ceremony held in London.
Mimiko bagged the award courtesy of Ben TV, based in the United Kingdom.
The award ceremony took place at the highbrow Holiday Inn, Kessignton, London, where Mimiko was decorated at the weekend with the “Best Governor of the Year Award.
The organisers of the award disclosed that the governor earned the award as he was discovered to have delivered on his campaign promises beyond the imagination of the governed in the state.
The prestigious ceremony graced by over 40 foreign ambassadors and members of the British parliament, also recorded some of the envoys decorated with sundry awards.
Stating the rationale and template for the award, the organisers revealed that“ as part of the social responsibility role bestowed on us as a media outfit, we set up a research team to focus on the performance of the elected governors in Nigeria basing it on the four sectors viz;education, agriculture ,health, and infrastructural/ urban renewal.
“This committee transversed the length and breath of Nigeria for 3months, conducting empirical research and on the spot assessment of the state incognito and it found that Dr Olusegun Mimko towers above the others.
“ we found out that no state governor in Nigeria has approached the implementation of his election promises with great fervor and agrarian passion like Dr Mimiko. In the education sector , no state governor in Nigeria has ever planted the kind of structure Dr Mimiko constructed for the primary school in Nigeria. You will be amazed that these beautiful, child friendly and academic inducing structures are not only for the public, the common people but that they will pay on fee.”
