Eagles coach Stephen Keshi disclosed that he wants Nigeria Premier League hot shot, Jude Aneke to prove that his 20 goals record haul this season were not a fluke.
Aneke who stars for Kaduna United was a late call up to the Eagles, after regular striker Osaze Peter Odemwingie declared himself unfit to play. Keshi said that it was an opportunity for the player to shine and make a case for other home-based players.
“For a player who is highest goal scorer in the league I cannot ignore him. I want to give him the opportunity to see if I can handle him, and I pray he fits into the team because it will be a plus for the league.”
Aneke expressed delight with his call up to the national team. He stated that he is looking forward to playing for the National team adding that his improvement in the local league was due largely to his team-mates at Kaduna United.
Aneke set a new Premier League scoring record when he hit his 20th goal of the season last week.
The forward, who plays for Kaduna United, is said to be headed for Belgian club Genk during the winter transfer window.
