Nsukka- Some residents of Nsukka have called on the Federal Government to name some public structures after the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu as a way of rewarding his numerous contributions to national development.
Mrs Philomena Ogummah, a trader, said in Nsukka Monday that Ojukwu was a worthy son of Nigeria who contributed immensely to its socio-economic development.
She said: “The only way to reward Ojukwu for his immense contributions is to name some structures, roads and streets after him.”
Mr Peter Odo, a civil servant, said Ojukwu was a brave soldier in the history of the country.
He said: “His courage in fighting for the interest of his Igbo clan cannot be forgotten in a hurry. He was a gallant officer, successful politician and a visionary leader.
“He was a national and international icon during his lifetime.”
