LAGOS— National coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, Otunba Gani Adams, has called on Federal Government to rescind its decision on the planned removal of fuel subsidy.
Also leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has kicked against the planned removal of subsidy from petroleum products by the Federal Government.
Adams argued that the removal of the subsidy will lead to inflation in the economy, adding that Nigeria cannot bear any irrational economic ideology that would make lives difficult for the people.
The former NANS leaders in a statement by Ogaga Ifowodo, Abdul Mahmud , Nasiru Kura, all former NANS Presidents, said “if subsidy does exist as claimed by the government, then it was fabricated by and for those who allocate or own oil blocks and petroleum import licences.”
It does not subsidise living for the masses, who groan daily from the penal servitude of surviving on less than N150, a day to which their successive rulers have sentenced them.”
