Management of First Deep Water basketball Club of Lagos has vowed that the club would write its name in gold at the Africa Women Basketball Championship holding in Yaounde, Cameroun, December, 4 to 10.
Speaking in Lagos Friday while receiving the NBBF Zenith Bank Female League Championship trophy, won by the club for the second year in a row, Chief Executive of First Deep Water Discovery Ltd, Babatunde Babalola said the club now has eyes on the African Club title.
“ We are elated at the success of our club in Nigeria for the second year running. But more than that, we have made preparations to do the country proud at the African Clubs Cup in Yaounde come December,” he said.
“ We won the national title last year and it was said in some quarters that ours was a fluke. Now it is obvious we are no longer a team to be overlooked,” he said, adding, “Our target now is to fight our opponents there in Yaounde so as to emerge the best in Africa. We want to do that to wipe the tears off the face of Nigerians in view of recent failings of our football teams.”
