The First Deep Water sponsored Stay-In-Schools With Basketball Final 8 in the boys and girl categories will be concluded today at the National Stadium, Lagos Indoor Hall for which winners in each category will pocket N1m worth of books.
Chief executive officer of the sponsoring company Babatunde Babalola disclosed in Lagos that the second and third place winners in each category will also bag N750,000 and N500,000 worth of books respectively.
“We are happy to contribute to the development of the game at the grassroots schools where we all know is the foundation. I like to congratulate the schools that have made it to the last eight in both boys and girls because they must have come this far due to the determination and hard-work they put in,” he said.
Babalola also announced that scholarship awards by the company awaits outstanding individuals who emerge as Most Valuable Players, (MVP) in each of the boys and girls competitions, adding “we want to encourage those who come out very well in the competition to further their education in addition to using the opportunity to continue playing the game and even explore prospects of taking up the game as a career.”
Finalists in the boys category include International School Lagos, Honeyland, Dansol and St. Gregory, Obalende while the girls category has Darego, Chrisland and Ilupeju Grammar School.
