THE Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, Delta State branch, says it has named its proposed N750 million secretariat after the former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori.
Chairman of the Association, Comrade Sam Dietake and the State Secretary, comrade Lucky Edewor in a statement in Asaba, noted that it appointed some well-meaning Deltans as Patrons in realizing the dream of the project.
“We decided to honour Chief James Ibori by naming the proposed N750 million secretariat after him. This is in appreciation of the former Governor of Delta State as a labour-friendly, compassionate and progressive leader. The gesture is also a testimony to the loyalty of civil servants to the present leadership of His Excellency Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and the entire political class in Delta State.
In order to raise funds for the project, all senior civil servants in the State are currently paying a 6-month levy from which the Union hopes to raise the N70 million. We also intend to launch the project soon with a view to raising the balance of N680 million and for this purpose Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has graciously accepted to be the Chairman of the occasion while a number of philanthropists have been contacted to be chief launcher/co-launchers.
