When I read the news about the woman who confessed to have killed her husband of thirteen years in Magodo, Lagos state, I wondered what this world is turning into! I think the problem in today’s world is that; People are used and things are loved.Yes! It is a known fact that money is the root of all evil.
According to the Bible’s predictions, men will love money more than people and love themselves more than God. But this is not a case of Killing for money because the money in this case belonged to them as couples. It is about taking a life she didn’t create because of sheer greed.
According to reports, Mrs. Ngozi Ademoye confessed to be responsible for her husband’s death. Her husband died around 4 am after she hit him twice with a weapon. Late Kazeem Ademoye was a socialite and a successful business man. Their 13 year old marriage was blessed with two girls and a male child from the wife’s previous marriage. The accused dilly-dallied on how the actual murder was perpetrated.
Notably, she earlier told sympathizers who visited their residence that her husband died of heart attack. Later, she was reported to have told her neighbours and close relatives that she woke up to find him in his red regalia and a tortoise tied to his neck, engaging in his occultic practice. In the process she said, she reached for her ‘holy water’, and sprayed it generously on him and this singular act caused his demise.
A cousin of the deceased expressed fear that there is more to the incident than meets the eye. He is of the opinion that the inconsistency in the wife’s account of her husband’s death leaves a lot of room for due suspicion of the actual manner in which his brother was killed. He expressed disappointment at reaching his late brother’s house, only to find the brother’s wife watching television so calmly and unmoved by the whole occurrence.
The questions on our minds are: why did she kill her husband? If what she said about the consistent abuse she received from the deceased is true then, who did she complain to? If she said it is not premeditated then, why did she retrench the staff in the company the next day?
Who helped in carrying the body of her dead husband from the floor to the bed after changing the deceased night wear to red regalia because she couldn’t have carried the body on her own! Why was the may guard sent away on the eve of the husband’s murder? Why did her son testify that when he saw his dad on the floor he was wearing his night dress?
Anger and Love have no limits; choose the latter to have a beautiful and lovely life. Things are to be used, but people are to be loved. Watch your thoughts for they become words. Watch your words for they become actions. Watch your actions for they become habits. Watch your habits for they become character. Watch your character for it becomes your destiny.
Let’s be careful to keep this thought in our minds.
