Surulere beat Ikorodu North 4-0 in Lagos Junior League match
Lagos – John Agwu, Coach of Ikorodu North FC , has blamed his team’s 4-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Sport City FC of Suru lere, in the ongoing Lagos Junior League Competition, on the weather.
Agwu on Wednesday in Lagos after the match at the Legacy pitch, said that the early kick-off and the prevailing sunny weather sapped the energy of his players.
“My boys gave their best but the early kick off and sunny afternoon spoilt the day for us.
“The Refereeing was fair ;but I think we had an appeal for a penalty turned down, when a Suru lere player handled the ball in their penalty box area.
“Our next match will be better as we would work to correct our mistakes and get more coordination in the team, ”the visibly disappointed coach said.
Ikorodu had started the match on a brilliant note, but gradually succumbed to the enterprising play of Suru-Lere by conceding goals in the 23rd, 46th, 66th and 92nd minutes of the match to summerise a woeful performance.
Meanwhile Ojo Adebowale who scored a hat trick for Suru Lere, attributed his remarkable feat to hard work. He told NAN that the result of the match was very pleasing.
`Hard work and dedication is my secret, i promise to score more goals this season.
“I am happy to score three goals today and would have loved to score more, ”Adebowale said. (NAN)
