Moments before the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, picked up courage to announced the sack of Samson Siasia as the Super Eagles Chief Coach, two ex-internationals, Folorunso Okenla and Tajudeen Disu expressed disappointment in some of the ex- colleagues who were scrambling to take over Siasia’s job.
Okenla, a member of the Maroc’88 Nations Cup called Saturday Vanguard from London to say that “I am totally disappointed in these ex-internationals because they acted unprofessionally by struggling to replace Siasia even when the job has not been declared vacant.”
He said they had nothing doing otherwise, “they will not come with daggers and knives on Siasia, wanting to take over his job,” adding, “they should have waited for due process to be followed and the job is advertised before declaring interest.”
The former Shooting Stars player said that the actions of the ex-internationals portrays the country in bad light and “shows that we are not yet developed and I am very disappointed in them. They will soon find out that Siasia was not only the problem of Nigeria’s football. Siasia did not fail alone, but the entire football structure from the top to the last man.”
Disu who spoke on Brila FM radio monitored in Lagos said it was unfair for the ex-internationals to be clamouring for Siasia’s job when he was not yet sacked, adding that the former Flying Eagles should have been allowed to continue on the job to improve.
