Bauchi—THE Police in Bauchi State have arrested three suspects including a grandfather and his son over alleged conspiracy and multiple murder.
Father and son were alleged to have conspired to kill his grandson for ritual purposes just as another farmer was held for killing his wife with a hoe while they were on their way to the farm.
The police gave the name of the grand father as Sani Hamidu alleging that he conspired with his son, to kill his grand child, Sagiru Abdullahi, whom they removed his eyes, private part and also slashed his throat for alleged ritual purposes.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdulmajid Ali confirmed this while parading 16 suspects arrested for alleged various criminal offences in Bauchi yesterday on behalf of the Police Commissioner, Ikechukwu Aduba.
Also paraded was one Mohammed Sabo from Rigar Isamiya Darazo who allegedly killed his wife with a hoe on their way to the farm for reasons yet to be disclosed.
According to Abdulmajid, the said grandfather and his son, now at large, reportedly committed the offence at Ashura Rahama village in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
He also said that, after killing the young Sagiru and mutilating his body, the suspects dumped his remains into a well from where they were recovered by the police.
The Commissioner however, said the son was on the run, adding that the two people will be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed for culpable homicide.
Abdulmajid further said that policemen on routine patrol arrested one Sabiu Sirajo who was in possession of 18 cutlasses and 14 daggers around Peoples Club, opposite Dass Park in Bauchi, adding that a combined team of police and the Neighborhood Watch Group in Ganjuwa, acting on information, arrested two other suspects who confessed that they were specialists in attacking and robbing people of their belongings.
One Adigizey Abel- John with two others were also arrested for forging his father’s cheque and faking his signature with a view to cashing N2.2million from the Bauchi branch of Oceanic Bank.
“Abel and the two others left Jos, the family’s residence to Bauchi for this purpose. “To cover their act, they went to MTN office, Bauchi, and swapped Abel’s father’s SIM card number 08035633925.
“One of them, Hezekiah was given the welcome back SIM pack bearing the same number to intercept bank transactions in respect of the cheque, while impersonating the father of the principal suspect,” he said, pointing out however, that the three suspects were later arrseted by men of the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, with the help of people at Wunti area of Bauchi metropolis while struggling to snatch a Toyota Camry 2002 model with registartion number BT 412 RSH valued at N3million.
