AKURE- THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State weekend rejected the governor Olusegun Mimiko nominee into the board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr. Dele Omogbemi.
Addressing newsmen in Akure, the only member of the party Mr. Akpoebi Lubi in the House of Assembly said: “If the nominee sails through that would be the end of the PDP in the state.”
Lubi said that various appointments by President Goodluck Jonathan in recent times are at variance with the interest and success of the party in the state.
He said that President Jonathan is working in connivance with ruling Labour Party, LP, to kill the party in the state.
The member who represents Ese-Odo constituency in the House of Assembly cited recent appointment which did not go down well with the PDP in the state to include the appointment of a non-PDP member, Mrs. Omobola Johnson as a minister, the appointment of a LP member as his Special Adviser on International Affairs.
Lubi pointed out that “The president has not behaved like a loyal and committed member, he must not forget that he got there on the platform of PDP and this is highly regrettable, unacceptable and it must be condemned in its entirety.
“If these appointments are given to our party members and now that the crisis in the party has been resolved I believe it will go a long way in repositioning the party to bounce back in the 2013 governorship election in Ondo State.
“If he does not want the existence of the party in Ondo State Mr. President should tell the people of Ondo State, particularly the party members because the way and manner he is going about with the agreement between him and the governor here is killing the party, it is regrettable that the President is doing this to us in Ondo State.
“So what the party members in Ondo State are saying is that the last of the appointments, the commissioner nominee on the board of NDDC is not acceptable to the people.
“We reject it and if it is not corrected the attitude of the president in no distant time will drive a large number of our members may be moving to the opposition in the state and if that happens the whole world should know that the President is responsible for the exodus of our party members”.
