ABEOKUTA-The Chairman, Ogun State House committee on Land Matters, Remmy Hassan, has said that an anonymous caller has offered him a N50 million bribe as an inducement to stop the on-going probe of land matters.
Hassan said this at the weekend, during a chat with newsmen.
He said: “What happened was that, an anonymous caller put a call through to my phone and was putting some incentives on the table and asking me specifically that for the Housing Corporation, to discontinue the investigation, because, I also stand to benefit, if I could concentrate on others and leave the Housing Corporation.”
“He said, he just needed me to be aware that N50 million was on the table, plus some choice land allocations and buildings and so many other incentives. So, I said, come to the office and let’s talk. Till now, I haven’t seen the person”.
“But of course, I am not unmindful of the fact that, the fifth columnists that are not comfortable with what we are trying to do will want to arrange a set up that is resemblance to what happened to the
power probe at the National Assembly.
“So, I was waiting for the person to come so that you will be able to attach this allegation to a particular person, but unfortunately, that person did not come and we just had to put it in the ears of all the
committee members that such ungodly efforts are being made”, Hazzan claimed.
It would be recalled that, the committee which was set up to investigate alleged illegal activities in some ministries, had summoned some political associates of Daniel to answer some questions about their stewardship.
