Mabo urges Falcons to be more offensive

By KATE OBODO
As the Super Falcons confront Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the deciding 2012 Olympics Games qualifier in Yaounde today, a former coach of the team, Ismaila Mabo insists that only an attacking approach will win the match for the Nigerians.

Falcons hold a slim 2-1 advantage into the game, which promises to be explosive.

Speaking with Saturday Vanguard Sports, Mabo said that the Nigerians would be digging their graves if they play defensive.

“ The biggest mistake our team would be making is to play defensive in Cameroon. If they do such, they are going to lose with a heavy margin. I advocate for an attacking formation so that our opponents would not just swoop on us like bees on honey.

“Cameroon are very determined and would not be easily pulled down .But then, I know if our girls are more determined, we should be able to hold them to a goalless draw or compound their problem by adding one goal. They are also very desperate to qualify for the Olympics.

“My advise, to the team, is that they should not be afraid or be carried away by the antics of Cameroon. In all, she should prepare for war because it is not going to be a tea party. Let her talk to the girls to be more offensive”, added Mabo
