KANO—Kano State Government has announced its readiness to implement the new salary scale.

Kano Head of Service, Alhaji Shehu Minjibir, told newsmen that  ‘Kano is part of the corporate entity that made up the Nigerian federation and would not do anything against the laws of the land.’

The resolve of the government might not be unconnected with an improved monthly internally-gnerated revenue,IGR, that is anticipated to hit the N2 billion mark by year end.

Responding to a question on the position of Kano on the new minimum, the Head of service said: “We have gone far, so many kilometres away and I must remind you that the new salary structure is an act, and Kano as a responsible corporate entity will abide by the law.”

Although, Alhaji Shehu Minjibir failed to announce the implementation time-table for Kano workers, the announcement will no doubt appease the labour leaders that crippled the activities of Government in recent past to compel it implement the minimum wage

The Head of Service who announced series of training for low cadre staff  in the state, revealed that the introduction of biometric data project will permanently address the ghost worker syndrome in the service.

Alhaji Shehu Minjibir also revealed that Kano civil service has a staff strength of 42,000 workers stressing that the number gulped N3.1billion wage bill monthly.
