Former Eagles assistant coach, Joe Erico has outlined how the Super Falcons can beat Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in today’s final 2012 Olympic Games qualifier.
Nigeria take a slim 2-1 first leg lead into the crunch match in Yaounde but Coach Erico noted in an interview with Saturday Sports Vanguard, that the victory in Abuja was a good result for the team to build upon, saying they should use today’s game to prove their superiority over the Cameroonians and that way bring back the smiles on the faces of Nigerians, who are still feeling the blues over the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
“I’m confident that the girls will win this game despite fears held by people that 2-1 was not good enough in the first leg. But I think it’s an advantage to be used to put the pressure on them in the second leg because it is power you can use if you know what you want to achieve and how important that game is to you. So what they need do is play with determination, put in extra effort with the aim of winning and I think they have the wherewithal to beat Cameroon on their own soil”, said Erico, who anticipates a tough tie from the Cameroonians.
“Cameroon would prove tough, I expect they will be physical and intimidating to our team so as to win. But our girls must be calm, confident and strong in character and ensure they give their opponents a shock defeat.”
They must show the Olympic ticket is important to them and if they do just that, they will come out with the best result.”
To coach Uche, he urged her to field only the best players available to her, saying there is no better time for her to prove her worth than now.
