THE leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says there was no gang-up in the National Working Committee, NWC, to remove the Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, following the appointment of a new state chairman for the Bayelsa State PDP.
In a statement yesterday by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali, the party also denied reports that there were cracks in the NWC.
A national daily (not Vanguard) had reported, on Friday, that some members of the NWC were against the appointment of Chief Dugo James as Bayelsa PDP chairman and have been rooting for the removal of Baraje.
According to Alkali, the report was not only in bad taste, but also a product of the imagination of the reporter that wrote the story.
