The Bauchi State Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has yesterday elected new officials to run the affairs of the chapel for the next three years.
The new executives include Mohammed Ibrahim of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) who emerged the new chairman, while Terverr Tyav of African Independent Televison (AIT) emerged the Vice Chairman of the chapel.
Other officials elected include Ahmed Kaigama of Peoples Daily who emerged the Secretary, while Mohammed Kawuof New Nigeria newspaper is the Financial Secretary just as Patience Ogbodo of Daily Independent and Austine Tsenzughul of The Nation emerged Treasurer and Auditor respectively.
Shortly after swearing in the new leadership, the Chairman of the State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Dahiru Garba Mohammed urged the new officials to be fair and just and promote professionalism in the chapel.
Garba who was represented by NUJ council Secretary in the state, Sanusi Mohammed, who supervised the election along with Ibrahim Mallam Goje, the council NUJ Vice Chairman also commended the electoral committee for organizing a transparent election and urged both losers and winners to put the past behind and ensured that the welfare of journalists were promoted at all times.
In his acceptant speech, the new Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel called on those who lost tlo join hands with the new leadership to move the chapel forward and ensure that the new leadershop would always carry every member along.
