AKURE—ALL the 16 commissioner nominees sent to the Ondo State House of Assembly by Governor Olusegun Mimiko for confirmation yesterday scaled through the screening exercise.
The screening committee headed by the Speaker, Mr. Samuel Adesina, was expected to forward its report to the whole house yesterday.
Vanguard gathered that the nominees are to face the plenary today for final approval by the Lawmakers and are likely to be sworn in within the week by the governor.
Sources at the screening of the nominees said that they were grilled on the policies of the state government and how they intended to contribute to the development of the state.
According to sources, they were asked questions on the on-going projects in the state and which areas they wanted government to improve upon ahead of the next election.
Out of the 16 nominees, two are former members of the Assembly; Hon Remi Olatubora and Hon Yekini Olanipekun.
Olatubora was of the 5th assembly and former Agricultural and Natural Resources Commissioner while Olanipekun is of the 6th assembly and former Sports Commissioner.
The two members received expressed approval as former members of the assembly.
Others who received express approval are former Special Adviser to former Speaker Kayode Akinmade, former Economic and Budget Commissioner Akin Adaramola and the present Chairman of the state Law Commission Chief Sola Ebiseni for their contributions in their former places of assignment.
A former Interim caretaker Chairman of Akure South Hon Tayo Oluwatuyi, Former Special Adviser on Due Process Igbekele Daudu, Dr Dayo Adeyanju, the son of the a leader of the Afenifere Ayodeji Falae and two women Mrs Yinka Alabi and Mrs Margret Akinsuroju, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, Ademola Olorunfemi, Tayo Akinjomu Taye Akinyede and Nicholas Tofowomo were cleared.
Meanwhile, the list of nominees from Ese Odo, Owo, Okitipupa and Ose are yet to be forwarded to the Lawmakers.
Investigations revealed that the stakeholders from the four council areas where nominees are yet to be picked are still discussing.
