The Nigerian Association of Industrial Pharmacists (NAIP), last week staged a walk on the streets of Lagos to create awareness on a killer disease, malaria as part of its decisive move to reduce malaria attack to the bearest minimum .
Addressing journalists at the end of the awareness programme, the 1st Vice Chairman of NAIP, Pharm. Charles Akinsete, said the event was organised to let the people know more about malaria and how they could protect themselves from the parasite.
According to him, the event was also put together to draw the attention of the government to the health sector with the aim of improving it. “Our submission in NAIP is that national governments should give higher priority to healthcare improvement proposals, which encourage higher investment and structural reforms in both funding and delivery systems to local pharmaceutical manufacturing”.
Akinsete said, for we to meet the challenges ahead, there is need for human capacity development. “We at NAIP are working hard to bridge this gap through the recently inaugurated NAIP business academy.
He said, a better health can have a positive impact on various economic outcomes because a healthy society is not an automatic by-product of economic progress, instead the later depends on the former.
