ERSTWHILE Coach of the Super Eagles, Amodu Shuaibu has finally come out from his hibernation to advise Samson Siasia to trade softly with his extreme disciplinary measures against Super Eagles players.

Amodu who twice qualified the Super Eagles for the World Cup and twice failed to lead them to the promised land told Siasia that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, would abandon him if he fails to qualify the nation for the African Cup of Nations.

Siasia since coming on board as the helmsman of the Eagles has stamped his feet on the ground insisting on discipline, something other coaches have paid lip service to.

But coach Amodu leaning on hindsight yesterday advised Siasia to apply the brakes so that he does not play to the gallery.

“I’m absolutely in support of Siasia with his disciplinary measures, but he has to know when to apply the brakes”, Amodu said on Brila Fm.

“The same NFF who are hailing him will abandon him if he fails to qualify the nation for the African Cup of Nations. The players are matured players and should be treated with respect and decorum to get the best from them. It is becoming a fight too many for him and such things have a way of boomeranging”, Amodu warned.

He recalled how he managed the players and many misunderstood him for a weakling. “I respected the players because they are matured and instrumental to the success of any coach. Many people misunderstood that to mean that I was not in charge.

The same NFF who are backing him against these players would not think twice in deciding his fate. He should take it easy. I am an apostle of discipline but he should watch his back”, Amodu noted.
