Election tribunal nullifies lawmaker’s election in Kano

KANO – The Election Tribunal sitting in Kano has nullified the victory of Alhaji Lawan Shehu of All Nigeria Peoples Party from Bichi Federal constituency.

Delivering her verdict on a petition brought before the Election Tribunal by the Peoples Democratic Party the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Mukthar Abimbola said the election was nullified based on the ground of exclusion of the name of the Congress for Progressive Change(CPC) Alhaji Abdulllahi Damargu from the ballot paper

The Tribunal then ordered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organize a fresh election within three months in line with constitution .

Similarly, the Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by Barrister Jemilah Ahmed Sadik of PDP and upheld the victory of Mohammed Ali of ANPP, for Wudil federal constituency.

Justice Abimbola ruled that the petitioner failed to prove her case beyond reasonable doubt.

Also , the chairman of the Tribunal has equally upheld the election of Kumbotsho Federal constituency won by Alhaji Munir Umar Dan-Agundi of PDP and nullified the petition  filled by Alhaji Ibrahim Umar of ANPP.
