Shell reopens Utorogu Gas Plant

Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited has announced the immediate reopening of its Utorogu Gas Plant two days after if it was shut down following a leak on the Utorogu – UPS trunkline.

The line evacuates condensate from the facility. SPDC has isolated the leak point for subsequent repair work. Investigation is being conducted to find out the cause of the leak.

Utorogu Gas Plant is very strategic to national development as it currently produces 270mscf/d and supplies gas to the nation’s largest thermal plant, Egbin, which is accountable for 25 percent of the nation’s electricity supply.
