Rochas donates N1m…Police release Sam Loco’s body
To help alleviate the pains of losing the bread winner of the family, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State in the week donated N1m to the family of the late legendary actor Sam Loco Efe who died in his hotel room, in Owerri, early this month.
The money donated through the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is meant to cover the cost of the actor’s autopsy, which was done last weekend as well as other sundry expenses.
A source close to the actors’ body confirmed to HVP that Sam Loco’s body finally left Owerri for Benin on Tuesday. No burial date has been announced yet.
But a forthnight ago, AGN president, Segun Arinze, set up a high powered 11-member organising burial committee, with AMAA founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe as chairman, and Fidelis Duker as Secretary.
Other members include Obi Osotule, Hakeem Rahman, Stella Damasus, Paul Obazele, Iyen Agbonifo, Nobert Ajaegbu, Steve Eboh, Mufu Onifade and Amayo Uzor Phillips.
As preparation continues for the burial of the actor, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation, Mr Afolabi Adesanya, has joined other Nigerians to pay tribute to the departed actor.
In a statement sent to HVP, Adesanya described the death of Loco as unfortunate and sad.
His death, according to Mr. Adesanya, is a great and monumental loss to the entire Nigerian creative industry which the late Sam Loco contributed immensely to bring it to its current world class state.
“The dexterity with which he engaged in acting, greatly and positively influenced youths to take to acting as a career.”
