LAGOS — Police men attached to Ayobo Police Division, Lagos, yesterday, foiled attempt by a four-man robbery gang, which specialises in snatching of vehicles, from disappearing with a Honda car, they had stolen.
The car was recovered after about two hours chase by the police.
The gang reportedly intercepted the owner of the vehicle, a woman (names withheld) around Amule Junction, dragged her out of the vehicle and ordered her to lie face down before zooming off.
Luck, however, ran out of the robbers, as the Divisional Police Officer, Mr Julius Isijola, who was on patrol with a team of anti-robbery policemen went after the robbers.
The armed men, it was learnt, drove against traffic, heading towards Ikeja, where they were intercepted.
In a bid to escape, the robbers reportedly ran into the street light on Agidigbi Street, Ikeja and when it became clear that the policemen were closing-in on them, they abandoned the vehicle and escaped.
