IBADAN—Former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Alao Akala, yesterday said the security situation in the country would impact negatively on foreign direct investment.

He said: “Nobody will like any capital flight knowing full well that our country is not saved. This is what the majority of Nigerians will have to guide against.”

Speaking with aviation correspondents, Alao Akala, said there were lots of things wrong with the country’s security. He said: “The type of security we are getting now is the reflection of the society. It is what is happening even within our society. Those of them fomenting trouble should stop. That is the only thing that can move the country forward and we are not portraying ourselves well before the international community.

“We should know that this country belongs to all of us. Our Muslims brothers have fasted for 30 days and it is for them to move closer to God and not to go back to those things they used to do before the fast. We want a very peaceful country. It is only under a peaceful atmosphere that any other things can take place. When the country is not peaceful, we will not develop.”
