Calabar-No fewer than 6,000 former militants from the Niger Delta region may be excluded from the on-going rehabilitation training programme at the Obubra Camp in Cross River State.
So far, over 19,000 of the registered 20, 192, excluding the 6,000 had benefited from the training expected to be rounded-off soon.
It will be recalled that about 1,075 former militants from Rivers State, who stormed the camp for the training two weeks ago were turned back for allegedly not being formally invited for the programme.
Director of Programme and Public Affairs, Foundation for Ethnic Harmony in Nigeria, FEHN, Joy Imeli, who spoke at the passing out ceremony for Batch 16 at the reformation camp, Obubra, said the journey so far had been impressive.
Imeli said: “If the Federal Government wants to extend the programme to accommodate the 6,000, it would be a welcome idea.”
