And now, as a doctor, I hardly have time to eat but I drink. I don’t like meat. I hate to see meat in my food.

I don’t like alcohol but I taste beer. I drink a bottle of cold beer daily. Either in the morning when I’m not busy or at night before going to bed.
What is the staple food in your village?
Amala. There are two types of amala. The lafun (cassava) and the black amala (yam flour). I love black amala because of the taste and aroma.
Do you know how to prepare any of your traditional foods?
No woman can defeat me in cooking. As the eldest, I cook very well. As the first son, my mother taught me how to cook. So, I know how to prepare all types of food. With my exposure, I know how to prepare continental dishes.
…And your wife?
She begs for holiday. At times, she begs me to prepare some soups for her especially vegetable soup. And happily, I prepare it. In fact, she is my sister.
Has your transition from Nigeria to Ivory Coast changed your feeding habit?
We are still Africans. I’m used to Ivory Coast dishes too. I still eat amala in Ivory Coast whenever the occasion calls for it. And my wife prepares it because it’s my favourite.
Do you experiment with Ivory Coast dishes too?
Of course and they taste very well too. I took my time to learn how to eat their food.
Can you mention any of those foods?
There is what is called, Asheke. It’s made from cassava, just like garri. It is always in liquid form. It is accompanied with other ingredients including tomatoes, onions, fried fish or toasted fish, chicken. It’s one of their staple foods.
Do you know how to eat this particular food?
I tasted it and I did like it. Although, I haven’t tasted it for a while.
What is your feeding habit on daily basis?
As a medical doctor, I watch my weight and so, I eat once a day.
How often do you take fruit?
I have them in stock. I take them anytime and I take fruit more.
What type of fruit?
Fruit in its varieties including orange, apple, pineapple, pawpaw. But, I don’t like the banana produced in Ivory Coast because of the chemical. I don’t like it when it is not naturally produced.
