THE Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, yesterday, dropped Professor Yinka Omoregbe as Company Secretary and Legal Adviser. The corporation appointed Mr. Tony Madichie as replacement.

When contacted, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma, the Corporation’s Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, explained that it was a routine exercise, adding that people come and go based on the needs of NNPC.

Mr. Madichie, who has been in the employ of the corporation since 1984, is described as a consummate corporate and commercial legal luminary. He is from Anambra State and is married with children.

It would be recalled that Professor Omoregbe was appointed to replace Chief Sena Anthony in 2009 and it was expected that her experience with the Oil and Gas Implementation Committee, OGIC, would be brought to bear in the reform agenda for the NNPC.

Efforts to reach Professor Omoregbe, yesterday, for a reaction to the development proved abortive.
