The Management of Kwara United FC of Ilorin, under the Chairmanship of Oladimeji Thompson has been dissolved and a new management constituted to oversee the affairs of the club in the interim.
The letter of dissolution which was dated 25th July, 2011 and signed by Hassan Muhammed on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sport and Youth Development, states that it (the dissolution) was necessary to reposition the team.
According to the club’s media officer, Olushola Olayioye who made this known to Inside Out Premier League, “The board of Kwara United Football Club is hereby dissolved with immediate effect in order to freely allow for government’s planned re-organisation along with other parastatals of the state government,’ the letter read in part.
“The club’s management is to be handed over to the Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports Development, Alhaji Toyin Olokoba while Alhaji A. Shehu, a Chief Sports Officer of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development will serve as the new secretary of the club in an acting capacity.
“The outgoing chairman, Oladimeji Thompson described the development as a normal government principle as he thanked all the stakeholders for their support for his management during the past years.
“He said his board achieved for the team within the period promotion from the National League to Premier League and clinching of the WAFU Cup ticket. He thanked the Kwara State government for giving him the opportunity to serve the state in that capacity,” Olayioye said.
Warri Wolves lament absence of key players
Warri Wolves FC are not comfortable with the loss of their key players to the Flying Eagles and foreign clubs as the league reaches its crescendo.
Club spokesman Timi Ebikagboro said,”the absence have really caused much on the team especially their current position in the league,” he said, advising the NPL to do something about the league schedule and the exact date it will end so as not affect the players.
“The league is still on and the games are becoming more competitive by day. On our part it has not been easy especially with the absence of our top players who have left for Europe. The league is getting tougher that one must win an away match to do well.
The league is still very much open though and I believe we will still go up to the top. I believe there are so many great matches to make up. Our main problem is that one of our best players, Ekigho Ehiosun who now plays with Samsunspor in Turkey is missing, together with Oke Akpoveta also plays abroad with a club in Denmark.
Another player, Chiemezie Mbah is with the Flying Eagles for the U-20 World Cup. In the last away match that we played, we did not go with our top strikers, that is to say we did not have a striker at all for that match and it really affected us.
“My advise is that the NFF and NFA should ensure that the league starts when it is supposed to start and also decide when the league will end so that players will not be engaged in order assignments when the league is on,” he said.
