Nigeria’s  High Commissioner to Kenya Dr. Chijioke Wigwe who was last week  invited  home for consultations  by the former  Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Odein Ajumogobia (SAN) has returned  to the country.

An authoritative source at the Ministry’s headquarters at Abuja who spoke on condition of anonymity  yesterday confirmed the return of the diplomat during the week. The source  stated  that  the Ambassador had  complied with the order made by the Minister last week.

The source  appealed that the media should leave the Ambassador alone because he must be  presently going through a deep emotional strain.

Said the source: “ He is my friend and colleague; I even invited him to see me but he has kept to himself since he returned”.

According to another source: “The Ambassador was invited to return home so that we can hear from him directly; after hearing his own version of what happened in Kenya,  the leadership of the Ministry would then  know what decision to take”.

It would be recalled that Dr  Wigwe was recalled back to the country after The Star Newspaper of  Nairobi published a story in which the Ambassador’s wife Tess was said to have alleged that her husband beat her up and inflicted serious bodily injuries on her.

The story was accompanied with pictures of Mrs Wigwe blood-smeared face.
