As the world marked the transition to Internet Protocol Version Six (IPv6) recently, the management of MainOne Cable Company has announced that its IP-NGN service is fully compliant with IPv4 and IPv6.
According to a press statement from the company, Main One’s high capacity network has been designed to manage current IPv4 investments while enabling early adoption of the new reality which is IPv6 protocol.
Product Development Manager, Jumoke Akande, said in Lagos that “Main One operates a dual-stack network, which means that we are able to route IPv4 and IPv6 simultaneously”. Our preparedness underscores the foresight of the management at Main One and our commitment to providing world class connectivity services between Africa and the rest of the world.
Main One Cable Company Limited is the first submarine cable company offering open access, wholesale broadband capacity in West Africa. Main One is wholly African-owned with a vision to expand the much needed capacity on the African continent and reduce costs of broadband communications across the Continent. This vision is being realized via a submarine cable system that was declared ready for service in July 2010 with initial landing stations in Nigeria, Ghana and Portugal – linking West Africa to the rest of the world via Portugal and the United Kingdom.
Main One’s vision is to be the most reliable, scalable and professionally managed international telecommunications service provider on the African continent. Main One’s high capacity fibre ensures that reliable and first class service delivery of the much needed broadband capacity is easily available and accessible within West Africa for regional and international operators as well as service providers.
It has a mission to eradicate communication challenges that limit African businesses from being truly global and creating an opportunity to showcase its technical prowess, by providing the infrastructure to help make their businesses reachable from anywhere in the world.
