Anenih didn’t submit Edo ministerial nominee’s name – PDP chieftain
By SIMON EBEGBULEM
BENIN—A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo South senatorial district, Owere Dickson Imasogie, yesterday, said it was the leadership of the party in the area that submitted the name of the former Commissioner for Environment in the state, Mrs Sarah Adetugbogbou, for appointment and not Chief Tony Anenih.
Imasogie, who also is the Senatorial leader of the party in the district loyal to Chief Anenih, explained that following the request to submit names for appointment made by the leadership of the party in the state, four names were picked, out of the 14 sent from the state for ministerial appointment.
Imasogie, in his reaction to reports that Chief Anenih was projecting Adetugbogbou, who also is his in-law for Ambassadorial appointment, said, “it is not true that it was Chief Anenih, who specifically picked Sarah. What happened was that the leadership of the party said we should recommend names. And here in Edo South, we recommended the names of Dr. Chris Ogiemwonyi, Mr. Matthew Urhoghide, Mr. Lucky Imasuen and Sarah Adetugbobou.”
He added that those recommended were party loyalists and it was for the President to pick any of them for any particular position.
