BENIN-THE police in Benin have begun investigations into the death of a 40-year-old single mother, whose naked corpse, was, yesterday, discovered on the street where she lived in the city.
Vanguard gathered that the corpse with white foamy substance oozing from its mouth and blood from her private part, was found in the early hours of yesterday, with a motorcycle helmet and an empty Nokia cell phone beside her.
It was learnt that the woman identified as Mrs. Rose Edem resided at 39, Osawonyi Street, Off Ekenwan Road, Benin City, with her teenage-son.
Sources said she hailed from Cross River State and owned a restaurant on Edo Textile Mill Road in the city, which she had operated with her sisters for years.
Indications were that the woman was a victim of rape by a motorcyclist, who later strangled her to death and deleted all the numbers on her mobile phone.
