PORT HARCOURT – A new Speaker and Deputy Speaker have emerged for the Seventh Legislative Assembly in Rivers state. They are Otelemaba Amachreee and Leyii Kwanee, Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.
They were elected, Monday, shortly after Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi dissolved the sixth Assembly that was headed by Hon Tonye Harry , who was re-elected into the House on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
The House immediately adjourned to Thursday, when it is expected that other key officers would be elected.
Otelemaba, is a fourth time member of the House of Assembly representing AsariToru constituency 1 while his deputy represents Khana constituency 11.
In a related development, Governor Amaechi has appointed his former Commissioner of Finance, Mr George Feyii as the new Secretary to the state government. Feyii who is from the Ogoni area of the state took over from his fellow Ogoni, Dr Magnus Abe who was elected Senator in the last general elections.
