ABUJA - President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife, Patience, Senate President David Mark, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu have condoled with the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu over the death of his wife, Mrs Mimi Katsina-Alu last Sunday.
The president in a condolence letter on behalf of his family, the Government and people of Nigeria, expressed heartfelt condolences to Justice Katsina-Alu and members of his family.
The statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ima Niboro said: “The suddenness and manner of her passing must understandably be a source of great grief to you. You should however find solace in the fact that she lived a richly-fulfilled Christian life of consummate dedication and service to God and community.
“I am also aware that she was a quintessential wife and partner, providing the needed support for you in the discharge of your onerous responsibilities as our nation’s number one judicial officer.
“As I pray that God Almighty grants her soul eternal rest, I also pray that He imbues you with the requisite strength to cope with this very painful loss.”
In his condolence, Senate President, David Mark described the death of Mrs. Katsina-Alu as untimely and unfortunate.
He lamented the death of Mrs. Katsina-Alu especially at this time when her supportive hands were needed to assist her husband steer the ship of the judiciary.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State in his reaction described the late Mrs. Katsina-Alu as a devout Christian wife and devoted mother, saying her death was painful loss to bear.
In his condolence to the Chief Justice, Oshiomhole said: “We share Your Lordship’s grief and the pains of the Katsina-Alu Family at this very trying moment of the loss of a beloved wife and mother.
The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, in her condolence letter signed by her Special Assistant on Media, Dr Isiaka Aliagan, she said: “Victoria’s death was “a great loss not only to the family and people of Benue State but to the entire nation, especially the women folk.’
Former Lagos State governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in a release, said though the sudden death of Mrs. Mimi Katsina-Alu was shocking, he beseeched the CJN to put his trust in God, adding that only God could console and comfort the jurist.

The Governor of Ogun State ,Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has commiserated with the Chief Justice of the Federation , Justice Aloysius Katsina Alu on the death of his wife, Mimi weekend.
Governor Daniel said the circumstances of the death was lamentable.
He said: “I received the news of the death of the wife of the chief justice with shock. At this trying period, the government and people of Ogun State commiserate with the chief justice and the entire family on this tragic development .
“We know that the death has robbed him of a dependable and loyal companion who performed her duty to her family to the end. Our prayer is that God would grant the chief justice, the children and the entire family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
Governor Daniel prayed that God would give the departed woman eternal repose.
