Concede Minority Leader to South East — Group

AHEAD of the inauguration of the Senate 7th Assembly, a group under the aegis, Anambra Renaissance Forum has called on the leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN to concede the Minority Leader of the Senate to the South East.

In a statement in Abuja Friday  the leader of the group, Dr. Simeon Obidiwe called on the ACN to zone it to the South East because of Dr. Chris Ngige who is the Senator- elect for Anambra Central, adding that he has the political pedigree to galvanise the opposition for constructive challenge in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.

Describing Dr. Ngige as a courageous, honest and detribalised Nigerian whose political pedigree would serve as a vehicle for credible opposition politics, the group said, “in this era where politicians hop and jump from one political party to another, Dr. Ngige has over the years shown that he is a principled politician with an uncommon determination to build the opposition into an enviable platform and a credible alternative for quality leadership in Nigeria.”

According to Obidiwe, the former governor of Anambra State has single-handedly given the opposition, Action Congress of Nigeria its highest electoral value in the entire old Eastern region of Nigeria, adding that the party must prove that it is not only a national political party, but  that which promotes the interests of all Nigerians.

“Anambra is the only state in the entire old eastern Nigeria where the ACN has elected members in both the National and state Assembly. This is attributable to the doggedness of Dr. Ngige whose selfless disposition and massive followership have made the ACN a beautiful bride in Anambra State.”
