Ex Miss world Agbani Darego who recently joined her catwalk counterpart Oluchi Onweagba Orlandi as ambassador of Recare’s Natures Gentle Touch, is no doubt excited at her job as ambassador for Africa’s leading personal hairstyle brand. In a chat with both ambassadors, the catwalk queens shared their experience so far with Natures Gentle Touch For Oluchi who has been working with Recare and Natures Gentle Touch for six years, it’s a relationship she is proud and excited about.
“Having a Nigerian brand that connects Africans with international lifestyle through quality products and knowledge sharing is a vision that I’ll always be part of, and so far, it has been very exciting without any regrets working on this vision. And I’m happy that women around Africa have realized the effective results of a product specially designed for us Africans and are patronizing Natures Gentle Touch” Oluchi who is heavy with her second child says.
Oluchi won the MNET face of Africa in 1998 and has since then become a household name in fashion and beauty. She was named the brand ambassador in 2006 and in 2010; her image graced the packaging of the redesigned Natures Gentle Touch No_Lye Kit Relaxer system.
“We chose Oluchi as our Ambassador because she is a true representation of the African beauty which is what our vision is _ to help Africans reveal their inner beauty, and she is very committed in using her position to reveal this African beauty to the world” said Chika Ikenga, the CEO of Recare Limited.
For Agbani Darego who joined Oluchi as brand ambassador in 2011, her decision to work with the brand stems from the fact that the brand is one that celebrates African women through their commitment to designing the best hair care products that is most suitable for us, “and I’m proud to be working with them; proud to be part of the Natures Gentle Touch family” she said.
According to Mr Ikenga, the CEO of Recare Limited, the choice for Agbani as the Brand’s Ambassador was because “she is a very talented woman and a role model to many which fits in with Natures Gentle Touch brand values”. He also informs that Darego will equally represent a number of products for the brand as Oluchi does.

Speaking on how the brand came into being, Mr Ikenga who holds a BSC in industrial chemistry from the University of Nigeria Nsuka, and started RECARE in 1997 and Recare in SA in 2005 after acquiring SA hair care brand, Hairsavvy. said the business began as an answer to the cry of women faced with various hair problems “We got into this when we realized that some people have problems like hair breakage, damaged hair, dandruff and hair not growing properly, and cases of relaxers hurting their scalps. We decided that we could create a product for them that will meet their specific needs and African need and that is how we came with gentle touch which is made in Africa for Africans.” he informs.
