Kaduna- Gov. Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State has won the governorship election, securing 1,334,319 votes to defeat CPC’s Haruna Sa’eed who got 1,133,564 ballots.

Yakowa of  the PDP  also met the constitutional requirement of  25 per cent of the total votes cast in 18 of the 23 local government areas of the state.

Prof. Abdullahi Mustafa, INEC’s  Returning Officer in the state and Vice Chancellor of  Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria,  announced the results in Kaduna on Friday.

Mustafa also said the ACN polled 20,094 votes, ANPP  had 33,142  while PRP  garnered 21,200 votes.

He said the state had 3,689,340 voters out of  which 2,516,144 exercised their civic right with 34,350 invalid votes recorded.

However, only the PDP agent and former Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, Mr James Magaji, endorsed the result.

Magaji commended INEC for a job well done, saying that the people have spoken.

CPC’s representative, Alhaji M. B. Shehu, led other party agents in refusing to sign the result.

Shehu said that they rejected the result  because of  “ INEC’s failure to address the party’s concerns over  the security situation in the southern part of the state.’’

He said CPC had written INEC on Tuesday detailing the displacement  and killings in  Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf, Kafanchan and Jaba areas in the post- election violence.

Shehu further said CPC would consider legal action.

Also reacting, the state’s ACN Chairman, Mr Mohammed Soba, said the party would consider legal action to seek redress.

INEC had rescheduled the polls in Bauchi and Kaduna States from Tuesday  to Thursday  over security  concerns.

There are 23 local government areas with 255 electoral wards and 5,102 polling centres in the state.
