Thugs sink boat with electoral materials, beat up INEC officials

ASABA- ARMED thugs sank a boat carrying electoral materials to Abala-Oshimili, a riverine community in Ndokwa –East Local Government Area of Delta State, today.
The thugs also beat up the electoral officials while the electoral materials were destroyed. Reports from the area said election could not hold as a result of the incident.
The driver of the speedboat that was used to carry out the attack was arrested by the community and taken to a hideout in the town pending the arrival of the police.
It was gathered that after destroying the voting materials, the thugs were seen drinking at a drinking spot in the community, happy that they stopped voting in the area.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in the state, Dr. Gabriel Ada said INEC was already investigated the matter and he had contacted the Commissioner of Police in the state, who promised to intervene.
Also at Emu in Ndokwa East, there was a report that ballot papers were snatched by a politician, who was allegedly caught with arms during the National Assembly elections, but bribed his way out.
He was said to have given N2 million to a senior police officer to cover up the case, but the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Kwale, debunked the allegation. He also said the report that ballot papers were snatched at Emu was not true.
It was gathered that the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in charge of Delta State, Dr. Gabriel Ada was alerted of the development and stepped in to find out what happened.
