The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has clinched the Yenagoa constituency I poll for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
According to the Returning Officer for the constituency, Dr. Ebibolami Nemine, the incumbent PDP lawmaker, Alfred Egba, scored 25, 478 votes to defeat his main rival, Mr Paterson Ogon of the Labour Party, who polled 4,545 votes.
The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, scored 963 votes while Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, polled 415.
At press time, the results from the other 23 constituencies were yet to be made public, but the ruling PDP, it was learnt, swept the polls in Ogbia Local Government Area, where President Goodluck Jonathan hails from.
