UGHELLI – Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has restated the state government’s determination to improve on the living conditions of physically challenged persons in the state.
Uduaghan who spoke during the presentation of chairs, tables, umbrellas and N20,000 worth of recharge cards each to 20 physically challenged persons, at an event organised by the state government in conjunction with the office of the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Physically Challenged, said he was driven by passion to add value to the lives of the less privileged in the state.
The Governor, who was represented on the occasion by the Chief of Staff, Government, House, Asaba, Mr Solomon Arenyeka, advised the beneficiaries of the gesture to make proper use of the items to better their lots, adding that, “more physically challenged persons will also benefit in due course.”
The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Physically Challenged, Miss Omasan Buwa in her remarks, assured the physically challenged of “more goodies from government through Rehabilitate, Interactive, Skill and Empowerment, RISE, initiative of my office.”
She added that “physically challenged persons across the state are undergoing training in sewing, barbing, shoe making, computer literacy, catering, bead making, hair dressing among other skills.”
