The Ijaw in Lagos and South West have described the cordial relationship between the Ijaw and Yoruba as a blessing to Nigeria.
The royal father of the Ijaw in Lagos, HRH Alex Sikaboro, stated this during a courtesy visit to the founder of Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, Dr. Fredrick Fasheun. The Izon Pere of Lagos said that the acceptance of Goodluck Jonathan by the South West was as a result of efforts made by great sons of Yoruba nation such as the OPC leader.
“Our people are living peacefully in Lagos and its environ because of the accommodating spirit of great sons of Yoruba nation such as Fasheun.
“We are grateful that since the day you physically attended the inauguration of our traditional institution in Lagos to promote peace and unity between Ijaws and other tribes in Lagos as well as promote our culture, you have not forsaken us but continued to assist Ijaw people in Lagos,” the royal father said.
In his response. Dr Fasheun commended the Ijaw royal father for promoting peace and unity in Lagos.
