FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Governor Olusegun Osoba of Ogun State and the State’s Governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria [ACN] have all condemned the bomb blast in Suleija saying that the new government after its formation must tackle the issue of security with serious attentaion

Speaking to newsmen in Abeokuta separately at their voting centres, the three said that the bomb blast issue must not only be condemened but also that a solution be found urgently.

Former President Obasanjo said “You can’t say everything is a laughing matter the way I said ‘I dey laugh o’ because it is a serious matter now. This one is serious in the sense that we must learn from the mistakes of the past. It is not something that should be trivialized.

It is also serious in that the bombing in Suleja is a phenomenon that should be condemned in a democratic culture.

“I took part in first election in Nigeria in 1959 and from 1959 to 2007, I have not heard o situation where people take a bomb to INEC or FEDECO office. In 2007, they tried to drive a petrol tanker into [INEC building in Abuja] but God saved the situation.

This time, we should appeal to all Nigerians, we should not be involved in an election that takes lives of the people we want to govern or legislate over.

“There are many things we have to do, many things we have to look out from point of view of security. This has become a serious issue in Nigeria that every government after this election must take serious attention to among other issues.

Former Governor Olusegun Osoba in his reaction said “I don’t think it is good for us to resort to this kind of violence against innocent people. I condemn it in its entirety and I pray for those whose have lost their lives in the course of building democratic process in
Nigeria.

Senator Ibikunle Amosun “The bombing of Suleja INEC office is barbaric. We should be beyond this pettiness; lives were lost including those of youth corpers who were on national service. That kind of acts won’t give the type of democracy we desired. People should look for better way of channelling their grievances.
