Benue Guber Polls: 2 shot dead, over 50 fake observers arrested

No fewer than 2 persons were shot dead in Makurdi the Benue State capital at the ongoing gubernetorial election while attempting to snatch INEC ballot boxes and electoral materials at various polling units in parts of the town just as over 50 fake observers have been apprehended around State by the Police.

Vanguard gathered that a bus load of the impostors was apprehended at a Police check point at Otukpo Icho, in Otokpo local government area of the state.

One of the dead was shot while attempting to snatch electoral materials at the Commissioners quarters polling unit, but he ran out of luck as one of the vigilant security operatives shot him on the chest before he got away with the box.

The getaway motorbike of the ballot box snatcher was immediately set ablaze by angry voters at the polling unit.

While another was short dead at the Gboko road round about while attempting to snatch a ballot box at the polling unit.

Meanwhile, one of the alleged fake observer who was also arrested in Otukpo by the Police, Mr. Hassan Yayock claimed to belong to the Society for the Protection of Human Rights.
