Awka – Anambra State government has evacuated 312 corps members serving in various troubled spots in the North, the Special Assistant to the governor on Media, Mr Valentine Obienyem, has said.
Obienyem told newsmen in Awka yesterday that the evacuation was informed by President Goodluck Jonathan’s directive to state governors to take responsibility in security of corps members.
According to him, it has become apparent that the security of the corps members cannot be guaranteed in those troubled spots at the moment, necessitating their evacuation.
He said the corps members would remain in the state, pending the restoration of peace and sanity in those areas where they were posted to serve.
More corps members of Anambra State origin would arrive the state from some of the states where post-elections violence took place.
