AWKA- SENATOR Joy Emodi, the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Anambra North senatorial zone, has promised to pursue vigorously the issue of creating more states out of the South East zone if elected next month.
According to her, creating more states in the zone will bring it at par with other geo- political zones in the country.
Emodi, who addressed rallies at Okpoko in Ogbaru local government area, noted that the zone was losing so much revenue as a result of the shortfall in the number of states in the area, adding that she would use her contacts in the other zones to persuade senators on the need to give South East at least two additional states.
She said: “I would have chosen not to go back to the senate, but I have unfinished business that is very dear to our people. That issue is state creation which, if carried out, will make the South East zone to equal other zones.
Because of the shortfall in the number of states in the South East, our revenue allocation and the number of local governments are also low which is why South East has the least number of senators and members of House of Representatives in the national assembly.
